Item

This OUT OF PRINT catalogue lists and describes 222 lots, of a rare collection of Swatch Prototype and Other Rare Watches !

Illustrated models from 1983 to 1991 include - Tennis Stripes, 12 Flags, Nikolai, Turquoise Bay, Sir Limelight, Bergstrussli, Mackintosh, Nine to Six, Folon, Kiki Picasso Art Model, Chic-On, Hyppocampus, Blackout, among OTHERS!!

I have always liked the Swatch wristwatchs because they are so distinctively designed, colorful, and limited editions -- I particularly favor the automatic self-wind models. I dislike battery-operated timepieces or those that have to be wound every day. I used to do that on a daily/weekly basis for all of the clocks I had in each room of the much larger place I used to live in -- but things change!

Serious collectors are increasingly making use of the technology available to them on their PCs/iBooks/laptops to make a personal computer database of the treasures they are interested in -- including pics! There are several software programs available which greatly simplify this task, allowing you to access thousands of individual data details virtually instantaneously according to your own programmed index words. And the entire process begins, as it has for many centuries, with having as complete a personal research library as possible on any particular subject -- scanning the illustrations in the tomes, and quite simply plugging all the info into the database results in an invaluable source and guide for your personal future collecting activities.

(Terms) [Variants, Prototypes, Test Pieces, Hybrids] - in English and French. Catalogue item descriptions/details in English.

For well over 20 years I have been adding these extremely well illustrated, frequently monographic auction catalogues as reference sources to my personal library, and was always absolutely thrilled to find something dealing with my eclectic interests. As with many of the books in my research library, I frequently, when possible, obtained duplicate copies, as I like to have one to use and another as a back-up. They are really a UNIQUE source for hard-to-find data and for use as identification guides, usually containing information about the size, media, dates, styles, signatures, estimated values, and often data on the artist or maker. Older catalogues on specialized subjects are usually extremely difficult to find because knowledgeable collectors had already acquired them as invaluable reference sources when they first appeared!
