N O T E S	Mantell is a European pioneer in fossils, and he dedicates the volumes to Charles Lyell, whose book I also have currently listed. Fold-out text figure of bird tracks. Sections on : plants, micro-fossils, echinoderms, crinoids, mollusca, cephalopods, fish, reptiles, birds and mammals, among others-- ALL amply illustrated! Chapters include : Stratigraphic distribution, Collecting Localities, Systematic descriptions, etc. Book in GREAT Condition!! Some pages of Volume II are still "uncut". Volume I binding intact BUT cracked on top-front [see Scan - above], back cover detached; Volume II binding intact, SLIGHT cracks on top portions of spine. Colour plate included below is from the frontpiece of Volume I. And guess whose bookplate is in the inside front cover? Amos Binney and W.G. Binney!! Look them up!
