This OUT OF PRINT catalogue lists and describes 594 Lots, ALL of which appear to be amply illustrated in gorgeous color, of an extraordinary personal collection of Vintage Jewelry, Accessories and Timepieces !

My scan is not the best due to the glossy BLACK cover and the SILVER embossed lettering -- my very vintage scanner never seems to be able to handle these types of things. Sorry about that!

Items include - necklaces, bangle and other bracelets, brooches, pendants; earrings, earclips; rings, compacts, lipstick + vanity cases, cufflinks + shirt studs; wrist, bracelet, pendant and other watches, jewelled agate desk clocks - jewelry as single items and in suites - and MORE!

Makers include - those in the header AND - Aletto Bros., Bulgari, Gerard, Oscar Heyman + Bros., Marcus + Co., Trio, among OTHERS!

"Born in Sicily in 1898, Fulco Santostefano della Cerda, duke of Verdura, was best known for his whimsical and imaginative jewelry designs. He was educated as an artist in Italy before traveling to Paris to design jewelry for Coco Chanel in 1926.... Financially backed by socialite Vincent Astor and song writer Cole Porter, Verdura opened his own salon on Fifth Avenue in New York in 1939. Harper's Bazaar gave an enthusiastic review of his jewelry shown at the grand opening and Verdura thrived despite the onset of World War II."

This (only part of a two-page introduction to a series of Verdura's works!) and other sometimes lengthy annotations about the items and/or their former owners/makers add a delightful accent to the absolute treasures seen in the full-colour illustrations found in this older reference source!

Whether you actually own/sell and/or collect fine antique and period jewelry, this is one really classy source to find hundreds of new items for your personal computer database of makers and styles.

Index [of makers/artists].

For well over 20 years I have been adding these extremely well illustrated, frequently monographic auction catalogues as reference sources to my personal library, and was always absolutely thrilled to find something dealing with my eclectic interests. As with many of the books in my research library, I frequently, when possible, obtained duplicate copies, as I like to have one to use and another as a back-up. They are really a UNIQUE source for hard-to-find data and for use as identification guides, usually containing information about the size, media, dates, styles, signatures, estimated values, and often data on the artist or maker. Older catalogues on specialized subjects are usually extremely difficult to find because knowledgeable collectors had already acquired them as invaluable reference sources when they first appeared!
