"I grew up with railways; as my father was professionally involved in railways, he was also a Marklin O Gauge fanatic with spare money and a good pair of hands, which enabled him to make several garden layouts for home-made engines and trains as well. When I was born in 1948, he decided to start with Marklin tabletop and was one of the first buyers of the new HO Gauge material. We really had everything from Marklin but I was too young, and was forced to look at the layout stretching across two cellars with my hands behind my back; the thin model contact wires did not accept children's handling. So my model train interest turned back to 0 Guage which my father had left me from the garden layout - no limits for playing and real noises when trains run over the tinplate rails. Heavy rail, as children loved it - and so did I. Marklin flat cars were perfectly adapted to transport Dinky Toy cars." - from the Forward.

For well over 20 years I have been adding these extremely well illustrated, frequently monographic auction catalogues as reference sources to my personal library, and was always absolutely thrilled to find something dealing with my eclectic interests. As with many of the books in my research library, I frequently, when possible, obtained duplicate copies, as I like to have one to use and another as a back-up. They are really a UNIQUE source for hard-to-find data and for use as identification guides, usually containing information about the size, media, dates, styles, signatures, estimated values, and often data on the artist or maker. Older catalogues on specialized subjects are usually extremely difficult to find because knowledgeable collectors had already acquired them as invaluable reference sources when they first appeared!
