This is the Chicago Cubbie set given away to the first 10,000 kids 13 and under, through the gates of Wrigley Field, at the 6 September 1997 game vs. the Mets. Set includes one Cubbie Beanie Baby and a full color, two-sided commemorative card (Both sides illustrated in the composite scan above). How many made it out of the ballpark in mint condition that day?.....maybe half? Consider that Humphrey had an approximate production of 25,000, Maple - Pride about 3000, and you begin to understand the potential of this set. With maybe 5000 of these sets around in mint condition, I believe these sets are the real sleeper in the Beanie line-up. |
